The laying of the foundation stone at the first Ronald McDonald House on the island took place on October 15. It was performed by Konstantinos Ioannou, minister of health, Cyprus.
This is the second project of Ronald McDonald House Charities Cyprus (RMHC Cyprus) after the creation of a clinic for children with heart disease at the Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia, which was officially inaugurated in October 2014. The pediatric clinic also is home to the Chapter’s Ronald McDonald Family Room.
The ceremony was attended by the minister of health, the mayor of Strovolos, the honorary president of RMHC Cyprus, the president and the members of the board of RMHC Cyprus, as well as representatives of the media. During the specific ceremony, Agiasmos took place and then, short speeches by the official guests followed.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit organisation that operates in more than 65 countries worldwide. With a view to creating and supporting programmes that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children. McDonald’s restaurants have been a lifelong supporter and founding partner.
In line with this, in 2014 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Cyprus was founded in Cyprus with its headquarters in Nicosia and its main sponsor is McDonald’s Cyprus restaurants. His vision is to make his effort to improve the lives of families with children with illness, by offering them support where and when needed.
On the first day of its establishment until today, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Cyprus is working hard to keep the family together in difficult times and in cooperation with other branches of RMHC worldwide, helps families to be abroad for free in order to be able to be close to their child, for as long as his / her hospitalisation lasts.
